An official trailer has been released for the documentary film The Last Rider.
The documentary tells the story of cycling legend Greg LeMond, the only American man to win the Tour de France, which he won in 1986. LeMond went on to win two more times in 1989 and 1990, after having survived a hunting accident, whereby he was accidentally shot by his brother-in-law with a shotgun, nearly killing him.
The film features footage and interviews with LeMond, his wife Kathy, and Tour de France rivals.
According to the official synopsis — The Last Rider follows LeMond’s inspiring journey. From his victory as the first American to win the Tour de France (1986), through his life-threatening accident to his nail-biting matchup against Laurent Fignon at the 1989 Tour de France — as he overcame the odds to redefine what it means to be a champion.
Directed and written by Alex Holmes, The Last Rider previously premiered in 2022 at the Telluride Film Festival, with a limited theatrical release on June 23, 2023. It is now set to be released on digital and on demand on August 8th, 2023.
