An official trailer has been released for the movie Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge and Quintessa Swindell.
Described as an anti-hero and enemy of Shazam, according to the official synopsis — Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods and immediately imprisoned, Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, other cast members include Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer and Uli Latukefu.
Black Adam is the first time Johnson has starred in a live-action superhero movie.
According to Variety, The Black Adam character, film and universe is very much a “passion project” for Johnson, with the film having been in development for over a decade.
Black Adam was originally meant to be introduced in the 2019 movie “Shazam!”, but the role was scrapped, after a spinoff dedicated to the character was approved in 2017.
It is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 21st, 2022.
